Funding

This project An’gard is co-financed by the European Union and supported by the Carinthian Economic Promotion Fund and Carinthia University of Applied Sciences.

An’gard is co-financed as part of the Investment in Growth and Jobs programme (IGJ/ERDF 2021–2027). The project informs about sports, health, and safety, prepares findings from research and practice in an understandable way, and tests user-oriented formats—from guides to blog posts. The goals are demonstrable knowledge gains, better prevention competence, and an open exchange with the community.

Description of the project

An’gard is an innovative mobile safety application that acts as a digital guardian angel for people who are frequently on their own—primarily outdoor athletes, but increasingly also active seniors. The core problem An’gard addresses is the significant risk of remaining undetected for a long time in the event of an emergency (accident, medical incident) during solo activities. Especially for commuters, singles or people living alone—young or old—valuable time can pass before the absence is noticed, which can have life‑threatening consequences. The app combines route information, individual emergency profiles and a proactive, automatic notification function to increase safety during solo activities. An’gard gives sports enthusiasts the freedom to pursue their passion with greater peace of mind, and also enables older people to maintain their independence while their loved ones enjoy a reassuring sense of safety (peace of mind).

The goals are:

  • conduct a market analysis followed by market validation
  • build a community
  • develop a prototype (the app)
  • conduct a prototype test
  • further develop the prototype into a functional final product
  • develop a marketing strategy and a marketing plan
  • prepare the market launch
